RIVERINA BIOREGION GRAZED NATIVE VEGETATION

The health and condition of grazed rangeland systems is of concern to all rangeland managers. With funding from Woolworths, Hay Trees on Plains Landcare contracted environmental consultant Graeme Tupper to undertake a review of data collected via the 1999 NSW Rangeland Assessment Program.

The project also undertook: field investigation of monitored and degraded sites; development of a scientific assessment of current vegetation status; and recommendations addressing grazing management and future monitoring issues. The goal of the project is the development of management protocols for identifying and maintaining vegetation reference areas.

This data is currently being analysed by Wendy Minato, a project officer with Hay Landcare, to be released for public comment and published later this year.
