Water for Wildlife in the Riverina Rangelands

Water for wildlife in the Riverina rangelandsIn late July 2012, Hay Trees on Plains Landcare and the Wah Wah Stock and Domestic Water Users Association secured Caring for Our Country funding to establish wetland refuges to look at options to mitigate the impacts on wildlife resulting from the proposed Wah Wah Stock & Domestic Pipeline Scheme.

This project will see the conversion of selected existing ground tanks into long-term wetlands, the creation of several small ponds as refugia and the development and public distribution of a ‘best-practice’ guide for establishing similar habitat options on public and private land.
